Where to Park at Ford Field

How Does Parking Work at Ford Field?

There are several lots and garages around Ford Field for you to find parking. With that said, most of it is shared parking with Comerica Park, where the Detroit Tigers play. So keep in mind that if for some reason there is a Tigers game the same day and roughly same time, parking could get very tight.

Also, while there are numerous lots and garages within walking distance of Ford Field, many of them are on the west side of Comerica Park. We outline below the rough walking distance of each lot and garage so you can choose which spot you want to try and park in.

Keep in mind, that tailgating isn’t allowed in the areas that happen to be closest to Ford Field. There are some restrictions on how you can tailgate in the lots that do allow it. It is always a good idea to check with the Ford Field Parking Guide ahead of time if you have any questions or concerns.

Ford Field Parking Tips

  • Buy Prepaid Parking if Possible – Buying a parking pass in advance can help you avoid the hassle of buying at the stadium, and allows you to reserve a spot in a parking lot that makes the most sense for you. This is where you can view the current price of parking passes for Ford Field at Vivid Seats (paid affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).
  • Tailgating vs Proximity – As mentioned, if you are wanting to tailgate, you will likely have to choose a lot that isn’t adjacent to Ford Field. So for example, while parking in the Ford Field Parking Deck that is right across the street is convenient, you won’t be allowed to tailgate there.
  • Get there early – Your parking pass will have an assigned lot to it, but you will not have an assigned space. Many of the lots are very large and can change the amount of time it takes to get to and from the stadium. Also, it is always nice to get a spot near the exit to help lessen the time it takes to leave.

Ford Field Parking FAQs

Where is the Ford Field Uber Pickup and Rideshare Area?

The Ford Field Rideshare areas for dropping off and picking up areas are located on the corners of Montcalm Street and Brush Street near Gate B and Adams Street and John R Street near Gate A. Keep in mind that on gameday, there can be street closures that will impact getting to those locations. When planning your rideshare trip, it is always a good idea to contact Ford Field ahead of time.

When do Ford Field Parking Lots Open?

Ford Field Parking Lots generally open 4 hours prior to game time. While all of these lots require you to purchase a pass, there are not assigned spaces within each lot. Times can obviously change as well, so if you are concerned I would recommend visiting the Lions Parking Information. You can buy a parking pass ahead of time if you are worried about finding a spot in your desired lot.

Does Ford Field allow Tailgating?

Yes, just not in the parking lots adjacent to Ford Field. There are numerous parking lots well within walking distance of Ford Field that allow tailgating. Most of these lots are located on the west side of the stadium, with many being west of Comerica Park. So if you are looking to tailgate, you will have to park a little further from the stadium than some premium lots, but it should be within a 15 minute walk. If you have question on tailgating, it is always a good idea to check out the Lions Ford Field Parking Guide.
