Sportsfanfocus.com has no affiliation with Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers, or MLB (info)

This is a guide to Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are a storied franchise and a popular summer attraction for those in and around Los Angeles. In the sections below we discuss some of the most important information regarding Dodger stadium.

Need Tickets?: As of this year, the Los Angeles Dodgers use digital tickets for all guests. The ticket office at the stadium is open for digital ticket assistance on gameday, but does not issue physical tickets. Tickets can be purchased online through the team’s website (or MLB Ballpark App) as long as supplies last, or through ticket brokers like StubHub or Vivid Seats. I like to use Vivid Seats because they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase. What to Bring to a Los Angeles Dodgers Game?

If you are going to a Los Angeles Dodgers game, planning ahead is always important. Below is a list of things you might need to bring, and you will want to make sure you are complying with any security protocols the stadium has:

  • Clear Stadium BagMany stadiums have strict bag policies and recommend a clear stadium bag like this one available at Amazon (paid affiliate link takes you to Amazon.com).
  • Parking Pass – Many stadiums recommend fans to pre-purchase parking passes if needed to help avoid the hassle and wait times associated with buying passes at the stadium. Click here to view the current prices of Los Angeles Dodgers parking passes and tickets available at Vivid Seats (paid affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com)
  • Weather and Sun protection – Dodger Stadium is an open-air stadium, which means you will want to be prepared to face the elements when you attend a Los Angeles Dodgers game. Things like sunscreen, hats, and jackets may be needed depending on weather forecasts.
  • Bug Repellent – Because Dodger Stadium is open air, bugs may be an issue during summer. Just make sure your bug repellent meets stadium safety guidelines for aerosol cans.
  • Cashless Payment – Many stadiums are transitioning to cashless payments, so bringing a form of payment other than cash is never a bad idea.
  • Camera – Some fans like to bring a camera into the game. Just make sure your camera meets the stadium requirements regarding cameras and video recorders.
  • Noise-Canceling Headphones – Stadiums can get very loud, and noise-canceling headphones may be needed for toddlers.
  • Baseball Glove – Some fans like to bring a baseball glove to the stadium in hopes of catching a foul ball.

How Long Do Los Angeles Dodgers Games Last?

You can expect a Los Angeles Dodgers game to last slightly over three hours on average, but it is worth noting that some games can last closer to four hours depending on pace of play. In 2021, the average Major League Baseball game lasted 3 hours and 10 minutes (source).

The length of games has become a point of emphasis for Major League Baseball as many fans site pace of play as one thing they’d like to see improve with the sport. In recent years, Major League Baseball has taken steps to help shorten the length of games, but the effectiveness of these measures is still under evaluation.

Major League Baseball games consist of nine total innings, with the exception of double header games which are only 7 total innings in length. If you are heading to Dodger Stadium, planning for a 3-4 hour game is probably the safest bet. To read more, visit our article about the time length of baseball games.

Best Site for Dodgers Tickets

Buying from the team, if possible, is always the best option. But some fans like to use online ticket brokers like StubHub and Vivid Seats, which give you access to re-sold fan-to-fan tickets.

Vivid Seats: I like to use Vivid Seats to buy my MLB tickets. Not only do they have a buyer’s guarantee, I love the fact that they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase, which is an advantage you don’t get when buying at the stadium. Click here to view Dodgers tickets available at Vivid Seats (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

If you choose to buy directly from the team, you can do so by downloading the MLB Ballpark App to your mobile device. The MLB Ballpark app is MLB’s free, official app that makes it easy to access, manage, and use your tickets. This is where you can learn more about the MLB Ballpark App.

How Long Does a Dodger Game Last?

In 2019, the average Dodger game lasted 3 hours and 12 minutes (source). This put the Dodgers slightly above the average for all of baseball, which was 3 hours and 10 minutes. In 2018, Dodger games averaged 3 hours and 13 minutes, and in 2017 they averaged 3 hours and 11 minutes.

Obviously, the length of any one individual Dodger game may vary greatly from the next due to several different factors. In general, planning on between 3 and 3.5 hours is best.

In 2019, the Dodgers extended the netting down both baselines.  They also raised the netting from 25 feet to 33 feet.  The netting, however, does not extend all the way to the foul poles (as of 2020 update to this article).

The netting used to run just past the dugouts, but in 2019, they extended it another 124 feet for fan safety. The nets extend to the end of section 40 on the first base side and to the end of section 41 on the third base side.

Does Dodger Stadium Parking Take Cards?

If you are getting ready to head to Dodger Stadium, you might be wondering how you will pay for parking. Do they only take cash? Does Dodger Stadium Parking Take Credit Card?

Yes, Dodger stadium parking does take most credit cards at the gate. Lines can back up for those that are paying at the gate, so prices are always more expensive at the gate vs buying online ahead of time. Both online and the gates accept most major credit cards.  If you are concerned about your card, you can contact the Dodger here.

What is the All You Can Eat Pavilion at Dodger Stadium?

The All You Can Eat Pavilion is a right field pavilion currently sponsored by Coca-Cola that allows you to eat and drink all you want during the game.  If you are considering buying a ticket in this section, there are a few things to think about.

The prices for the tickets are approximately $15-$25 more expensive than the left field equivalents (prices are subject to change). If you are planning to enjoy food and beverages at the game, then this might make sense for you.

While unlimited food and drinks sound great, keep in mind it is not all food and drinks. The food options are Dodger Dogs, popcorn, nachos, and peanuts.  The drinks are also your standard sodas and water.

Alcoholic beverages will not be included, so do not plan to drink a bunch of beer for that $15-$25. As mentioned, this pavilion is in right field, so make sure you are okay with sitting in the outfield. These seats are also bleacher seats, so you will not have seat-backs or arm rests.

Can you bring your dog to Dodger Stadium?

No, normally you cannot bring your dog to Dodger Stadium. There are, however, occasional exceptions.

Once per year, Dodgers Stadium holds a “Pup at the Park” where you are welcomed to bring your dog to the park. There are usually pre-game activities that you might want to join in as well, such as the pre-game pup parade.  The seats for the game have traditionally been in the right field pavilion, so if you are planning to stay for the game, expect your seats to be in right field.

Where is Uber pickup at Dodger Stadium?

The Uber pickup is in Lot 11 in the Dodger stadium parking lot and in Lot I.  These are the designated spots for all the ride-share apps.  When getting a ride to the game, Uber drivers can drop off at any of the five gates.

Keep in mind that after the games, there will be longer lines for Uber drivers and prices can be higher because of “surge” pricing.  When ride-share apps experience higher volume than normal, they sometimes temporarily raise prices.

If you are on foot, a great way to leave Dodger stadium would be the Dodger Stadium Express, which operates to and from both Union Station and South Bay. Not only is this a good way to get out of Dodger stadium quickly and avoid the traffic, the fare is free for all ticket holders.

Once at Union Station or South Bay, you can take the rail that leads to a wide range of places throughout the LA area.  This is a great option but that means leaving your car at the train stations.  If you are nervous about the train stations at night, there will be a lot of people taking this option, so you should not be alone.

If you are in your car and leaving Dodger stadium all gates lead to all the major interstates.  There are many suggestions to get out of Dodger stadium with your car, but no matter your route, it is going to take some time.

Keep in mind, where you park at the stadium will obviously impact where you exit.  Many fans recommend to take the Academy Road gate. I would advise you to contact the Dodgers if you are concerned about exiting the stadium, and let them advise what gate and lot would be best for parking.
