What to Bring to a Kansas City Chiefs Game?

If you are going to a Kansas City Chiefs game, planning ahead is always important. Below is a list of things you might need to bring, and you will want to make sure you are complying with any security protocols the stadium has:

  • Clear Stadium BagNFL stadiums have strict bag policies and recommend a clear stadium bag like this one available at Amazon (paid affiliate link takes you to Amazon.com). Make sure to verify the size dimensions meets the size standards for Arrowhead Stadium.
  • Reserve Parking – Many stadiums recommend fans to pre-purchase parking passes if needed to help avoid the hassle and wait times associated with buying passes at the stadium. • Weather & Sun ProtectionArrowhead Stadium does not have a roof, which means you will need to be prepared to face the elements when attending a game.
  • Cashless Payment – Many stadiums are transitioning to cashless payments, so bringing a form of payment other than cash is a good idea.
  • Noise-Canceling Headphones – Stadiums can get very loud, and noise-canceling headphones may be needed for toddlers.

Can You Bring a Bag Into Arrowhead Stadium?

As an emphasis on security has increased in recent years, NFL stadiums have adjusted their bag policies. There are strict regulations regarding the types of bags allowed inside a stadium. The NFL recommends fans to use clear stadium bags like this one available at Amazon (paid affiliate link takes you to Amazon.com).

Clear stadium bags help with security at the gate, and not only make the stadium safer, but also help security lines move faster. But each stadium has its own safety guidelines, and may include certain exceptions. To read more, I would advise you to visit the Kansas City Chiefs fan guide.

Can You Bring a Blanket Into Arrowhead Stadium?

Yes, you can bring a blanket into Arrowhead Stadium for Kansas City Chiefs games. The blanket will need to be slung over shoulder to pass through security gates (source).

Buying Chiefs Tickets

If you choose to buy Chiefs tickets directly from the team, you can do so by downloading the Chiefs Mobile App to your mobile device. The Chiefs Mobile App keeps you connected to the team with news, updated rosters, stats and injury reports. It also gives you access to ticket purchasing. To learn more about the Chiefs Mobile App, click here.

Once the game is sold-out, you will need to use the secondary ticket market, where you can buy Chiefs tickets that are being re-sold. For these types of tickets, I like to use Vivid Seats because they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase.

The main Arrowhead Ticket Office is located on the northeast side of Arrowhead Stadium adjacent to the Founder’s Plaza and Hy-Vee Gate. Many ticket offices have adjusted hours due to the pandemic, and my advice is to contact the Chiefs ticket office to confirm current hours of operation.

Arrowhead Stadium Gate Information

Arrowhead Stadium gates open 2 hours prior to kickoff. Certain club gates open 2.5 hours prior to kickoff (source). These are the stadium entrance gates. If you are wondering about Arrowhead Stadium Parking Gates, they typically open 4.5 hours prior to kickoff.

Best Place to Park at Arrowhead Stadium for Chiefs Games

Buy Prepaid Parking if Possible – Buying in advance helps reduce hassle and helps ensure that you have a parking spot on gameday. This is where you can view the current price of parking passes available for Chiefs games at Vivid Seats (paid affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

There are three main color tiers for parking at Arrowhead Stadium:

  • Arrowhead Stadium Red Parking
  • Arrowhead Stadium Gold Parking
  • Arrowhead Stadium Platinum Parking

Of the three, red parking is the most common. Arrowhead Stadium Gold Parking and Arrowhead Stadium Platinum Parking are the types of parking closest to the stadium.

Cash is not accepted at the parking tollbooths on site (source).

For most attendees, red parking will be the choice.

Regarding Arrowhead Stadium Red Parking, in my experience it works like this: once you pass through an Arrowhead Stadium parking gate, the parking attendants will just usher you to the nearest applicable spot. In the past, I have seen a number on my red pass. For example it may read Arrowhead Stadium Parking Red 3 or Arrowhead Stadium Parking Red 6, etc.

From my understanding, the number is used more for internal purposes. Again, in my experience if you have red parking, once you pass through an applicable parking gate, they just usher you into a spot (it’s not like I had an assigned spot).

Because of this, if you are using red parking, the earlier you get to the stadium, the closer to the stadium you will likely be. Again, there may be exceptions, but that is how it has worked in my experience.

UPDATE – As an update to this red parking issue, I found this on the Chiefs’ website (which seems to match my experience): “The numbers on your parking pass are for inventory purposes only and do not designate a specific parking lot or zone. Parking is based on the color reflected on your parking pass. Parking lots will be filled in operational order… (source)”
