If you are planning to attend a Buffalo Bills game at New Era Field and don’t yet have tickets, you might be wondering about your options. Can you buy Bills tickets at the stadium gate?

Ticket Info: Yes, you can buy Bills tickets at the stadium, but only as long as supplies last. That said, for reasons we discuss below (like sellouts, lines, etc), many fans choose to buy their tickets online before they go to the game. I like to use Vivid Seats because they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase. You can use our promo code SPF10 to get $10 off orders over $100 at Vivid Seats. Click here to view Bills tickets available at VividSeats.com (affiliate link takes you to vividseats.com).

Vivid Seats has a 100% Buyer Guarantee where they will make sure your tickets are safe and secure. If there are tickets available to purchase on game day, they will be at the Ticket office between gates 3 and 4 on the west side of the stadium.

UPDATE – Please note that as of 2022, the Highmark Stadium Ticket Office for the Bills has posted a notice that “Our Ticket Office is currently closed for in person transactions until further notice. Our staff is continuing to work remotely and available to assist you via phone or email (source)”. If you wish to speak in person, it would be best to contact them first to see if they are re-opened for in-person sales.

Buying NFL tickets online can help simplify the process and remove some of the annoyances and risks that come from trying to buy tickets at the stadium. In this article, we discuss how to buy Bills tickets at New Era Field, and what your other options might be.

Buying Bills Tickets at the Stadium

Can You Buy Bills Tickets at Highmark Stadium?

Yes, as we discussed earlier, you can buy Buffalo Bills tickets at the stadium, but only if there are tickets available. If there are tickets available to purchase on game day, they will be at the Ticket office between gates 3 and 4 on the west side of the stadium (view).

It is important to understand, if you are hoping to walk up and buy tickets at New Era Field for a game that same day, you might not have any luck. Bills tickets do sell out frequently and so tickets may not be available at the stadium on game day.

The Buffalo Bills frequently sell out at home. Therefore, if you wait to buy tickets at the game, you will likely miss out. Buying your tickets in advance, if possible, is always best. Click here to view Bills tickets available at Vivid Seats (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

If you are hoping to buy tickets for games in the future, you do have the option to search on Vivid Seats or some other online ticket broker. If you want to try to buy through the Bills Ticket Office, my advice is to reach out to them via phone or internet.

The Bills Ticket Office at Highmark Stadium is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm Eastern Standard time. It is also open Saturdays before home games from 9am to 1pm EST and 4 hours prior to kickoff on game days.

Issues with Buying Bills Tickets at the Stadium

Here are a few risks and annoyances you will want to consider if you are planning on buying Bills tickets at the gate.

  • Sellout – This is the big one. As we mentioned above, Bills games often sellout. While Buffalo isn’t a large market, they usually have some of the cheapest ticket prices in the NFL, which keeps attendance up (source). Walking up and buying tickets at New Era Field on game day likely won’t work. But even though many games sell out, that doesn’t mean you can’t get tickets. It does mean you’ll likely need to use a ticket broker, like Vivid Seats, that sells aftermarket tickets (fan-to-fan). Buying online in advance is advised.
  • Options – You also may find that even if there are tickets left for purchase that you don’t like any of the available seats or prices, especially if you are going to the game with a group of people. Buying online allows you to browse before you go, and find something that works for you.
  • Convenience – When you buy at the stadium, you will have to abruptly choose your seats while standing at the front of a line. Depending on the length of the line behind you, this may make you feel rushed when choosing where to sit. Buying online allows you to take as much time as needed to choose your seats and price.
  • Ticket Lines – Be prepared, waiting in line is a possibility if you choose to buy at the stadium. The overall wait can obviously fluctuate depending on the specific circumstance, and may be relatively short for some games. But a wait is possible.

Best Online Site for Bills Tickets

There are many places to buy Bills tickets from online, but I prefer Vivid Seats because of the 100% Buyer Guarantee, their digital platform, and their loyalty program. They also have a great app for phones to use that gives you access to digital tickets. Digital tickets are nice, as they can be scanned at the gates making them contactless. Buying tickets online can be a bit scary when it comes to giving out your information, which is why Vivid Seats has their 100% Buyer Guarantee program. The program is designed to give you security and peace of mind when you are buying tickets online. Here is all that comes with the 100% Buyers Guarantee program:

  • Hassle Free Customer Service
  • Private and Secure transaction (no selling or sharing your information to brokers)
  • Tickets Delivered before the Event Guaranteed or Money Back
  • Valid and Authentic Tickets or money back
  • Accurate Order Guarantee (your tickets will be identical, comparable, or better than your order or money back)
  • Money Back Guarantee for Cancelled Events

Not only do they make sure your are satisfied and your transactions are secure, but they also have a very user-friendly platform. When you go to purchase tickets, they show you exactly where the seats are on the stadium map. They also give you an actual picture view from those seats.

Vivid Seats Loyalty Program

As mentioned, Vivid Seats has a great loyalty program. Depending on how much you spend, you can earn up to 9% cash back on any purchase you make with them. Not only do you get an incredible 9% cash back if you reach “HOF” status, you will also get access to special VIP events and other additional perks. You can see more details here.

Of course, you can always contact the Bills and see if they have tickets available, but often times buying through Vivid Seats gives you a wider range of tickets and prices to choose from anyway.

The difference between buying from Vivid Seats versus buying directly from the team is Vivid Seats is a secondary ticket marketplace, meaning fan-to-fan. As mentioned, usually online ticket brokers like Vivid Seats will have a lot more tickets available and options to choose from.

There are, of course, other fan-to-fan ticket sites out there besides Vivid Seats that will also work just fine (like Stubhub). But I like to use Vivid Seats to take advantage of their 100% Buyer Guarantee and loyalty program. Click here to browse through Bills tickets on Vivid Seats to see what seats are available, and what prices (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

The NFL has partnered with Ticketmaster as the preferred primary ticketing partner.  Ticketmaster also has an online platform called Ticket Exchange, which is also a very popular fan-to-fan platform that competes with Vivid Seats.

General Highmark Stadium Information

Highmark Stadium opened in 1973, and is currently the home of the Buffalo Bills.  New Era Field is the third name of the stadium. It opened as Rich Stadium, then renamed to Ralph Wilson Stadium in 1998.  In 2016, the name changed again to New Era Field.

It is an open-air stadium, so you will need to prepare to face the elements when you go to a Bills game.  It seats roughly 71,800 fans for Bills game days.

Highmark Stadium is the one of the stadiums with artificial turf.  It is hard to keep grass in good shape late in the season in Buffalo, so it is logical that they still use artificial turf.  The entire complex that Highmark Stadium is on is 197 acres, which provides plenty of space for parking and tailgating (source).
