If you don’t yet have tickets and you are thinking about going to a New York Mets game at Citi Field, you have many options to choose from. You may be wondering if you can buy New York Mets Tickets at the stadium gate on gameday?

Update: Yes, you can buy Mets tickets at the stadium, but only as long as supplies last. That said, for reasons we discuss below, many fans choose to buy their tickets online before they go to the game. You can purchase tickets directly from the MLB Ballpark app or the team’s website. You can also use online ticket brokers like StubHub or Vivid Seats. I like to use Vivid Seats because they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase. Click here to view Mets tickets available at VividSeats.com (affiliate link takes you to vividseats.com).

Most MLB teams are now using digital tickets and recommending fans to download the MLB Ballpark app. The MLB Ballpark app is MLB’s free, official app that makes it easy to access, manage, and use your tickets.

Digital tickets help reduce ticket fraud and create a contactless entry. But, if for whatever reason, you experience issues purchasing digital tickets you can still go to the New York Mets ticket office at the stadium and they can print you a ticket (or provide you assistance completing your digital purchase).

The main Mets ticket office at Citi Field is located on the southwest side of the stadium near the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

Buying MLB tickets online can help simplify the process and remove some of the annoyances that come from buying tickets at the stadium. In this article we discuss how to buy tickets at Citi Field, and what your other options might be.

Buying New York Mets Tickets at the Stadium

Can You Buy Tickets at Citi Field?

Yes, as we discussed earlier, you can buy Mets tickets at the stadium, but only if there are tickets available. If there are tickets available on game day, they will be at the Mets ticket office at Citi Field that is located on the southwest side of the stadium (view) near the Jackie Robinson Rotunda. You will see an overhang and a sign that says “Tickets”.

It is important to understand, if you are hoping to walkup and buy tickets at Citi Field for a game that same day, there may be times that tickets are not available.

Some New York Mets home games will sellout.  Therefore, if you wait to buy tickets at the game, you could possibly be left with no ticket if the game is sold-out. Buying your tickets in advance, if possible, may be the better option.

You can buy tickets online through the team’s website, or by downloading the MLB Ballpark App to your mobile device. The MLB Ballpark app is MLB’s free, official app that makes it easy to access, manage, and use your tickets. This is where you can learn more about the Ballpark App.

Issues with Buying New York Mets Tickets at the Stadium

If you are choosing to buy Mets tickets at Citi Field, there are a few things you will want to consider.

  • Sellout – As we mentioned above, some Mets home games will sellout. Walking up and buying tickets at Citi Field on game day won’t always work.
  • Options – You also may find that even if there are tickets left for purchase that you don’t like any of the available seats or prices, especially if you are going to the game with a group of people. Buying online allows you to browse before you go, and find something that works for you.
  • Ticket Lines – Be prepared, waiting in line is a possibility if you choose to buy at the stadium. The overall wait can obviously fluctuate depending on the specific circumstance, and may be relatively short for some games. But a wait is possible.

Best Online Site for New York Mets Tickets

Buying from the team, if possible, is always the best option. But some fans like to use online ticket brokers like StubHub and Vivid Seats, which give you access to re-sold fan-to-fan tickets.

I like to use Vivid Seats because they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase. Click here to view Mets tickets available at VividSeats.com (affiliate link takes you to vividseats.com).

Buying tickets online can be a bit scary when it comes to giving out your information, which is why Vivid Seats has their 100% Buyer Guarantee program. The program is designed to give you security and peace of mind when you are buying tickets online. Here is all that comes with the 100% Buyers Guarantee program:

  • Hassle Free Customer Service
  • Private and Secure transaction (no selling or sharing your information to brokers)
  • Tickets Delivered before the Event Guaranteed or Money Back
  • Valid and Authentic Tickets or money back
  • Accurate Order Guarantee (your tickets will be identical, comparable, or better than your order or money back)
  • Money Back Guarantee for Cancelled Events

Not only do they make sure you are satisfied and your transactions are secure, but they also have a very user-friendly platform. When you go to purchase tickets, they show you exactly where the seats are on the stadium map. They also give you an actual picture view from those seats.

Vivid Seats Loyalty Program

As mentioned, Vivid Seats has a great loyalty program. Depending on how much you spend, you can earn up to 9% cash back on any purchase you make with them. Not only do you get an incredible 9% cash back if you reach “HOF” status, you will also get access to special VIP events and other additional perks. You can see more details here.

Of course, you can always contact the Mets and see if they have tickets available, but often times buying through an online ticket broker gives you a wider range of tickets and prices to choose from anyway. If there are no more tickets available through the Mets official website, the buying through a ticket broker like Vivid Seats is needed.

The difference between buying from Vivid Seats versus buying directly from the team is Vivid Seats is a secondary ticket marketplace, meaning fan-to-fan. As mentioned, usually online ticket brokers like Vivid Seats will have a lot more tickets available and options to choose from.

There are, of course, other fan-to-fan ticket sites out there besides Vivid Seats that will also work just fine (like Ticketmaster). But I like to use Vivid Seats to take advantage of their 100% Buyer Guarantee and loyalty program. Click here to browse through Mets tickets on Vivid Seats to see what seats are available, and what prices (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).
