Can You Buy Tampa Bay Rays Tickets at the Stadium? [Tropicana Field]

Sportsfanfocus.com has no affiliation with Tropicana Field, the Tampa Bay Rays, or MLB (info)

If you are hoping to watch a Tampa Bay Rays game in person at Tropicana Field and don’t yet have tickets, you might be wondering about your options. Can you buy Rays tickets at Tropicana Field on gameday?

Update: As of this year, the Tampa Bay Rays ticket office no longer sells paper tickets at the stadium. The ticket office at the stadium is open for mobile ticket assistance only. Tickets can be purchased online through the team’s website as long as supplies last, or through ticket brokers like StubHub or Vivid Seats. I like to use Vivid Seats because they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase. Click here to view Rays tickets available at VividSeats.com (affiliate link takes you to vividseats.com).

If you need mobile ticket assistance, the Rays will have ticket office associates ready to help you at the Gate 1 and Gate 4 ticket office windows. Mobile ticket assistance begins 90 minutes prior to first pitch. These associates will help you access the MLB Ballpark app on your phone for digital ticketing needs.

The MLB Ballpark app is MLB’s free, official app that makes it easy to access, manage, and use your tickets.

You may also scan the QR code at Box Office windows using the camera app on your smartphone to purchase tickets. So although you can no longer walkup to the stadium and purchase a physical ticket, you can go to the stadium on gameday to get mobile ticket assistance to help complete your purchase.

Digital tickets not only make entry points contactless, they also help reduce ticket fraud. In this article, let’s take a closer look at the process of buying Rays tickets.

Buying Rays Tickets at the Stadium

Can You Buy Tickets at Tropicana Field?

As of this year, the Tampa Bay Rays ticket office no longer sells paper tickets at the stadium. The ticket office at the stadium is open for mobile ticket assistance only. Tickets can be purchased online through the team’s website as long as supplies last.

If you need mobile ticket assistance, the Rays will have ticket office associates ready to help you at the Gate 1 (view) and Gate 4 (view) ticket office windows. Mobile ticket assistance begins 90 minutes prior to first pitch. These associates will help you access the MLB Ballpark app on your phone for digital ticketing needs.

You may also scan the QR code at Box Office windows using the camera app on your smartphone to purchase tickets. So although you can no longer walkup to the stadium and purchase a physical ticket, you can go to the stadium on gameday to get mobile ticket assistance to help complete your purchase.

It is always best to buy directly from the team if possible. You can view the Rays ticket page by clicking here. But if they or soldout, or you want to shop around, many people also like to use ticket brokers like StubHub or Vivid Seats.

As I said earlier, when I use a ticket broker, I prefer to buy from Vivid Seats because they show me a view from my seat prior to purchase. Click here to view Rays tickets available at Vivid Seats (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

Best Online Site for Rays Tickets

There are many places to buy Rays tickets from online, but when I use a ticket broker, I prefer Vivid Seats because of the 100% Buyer Guarantee, their digital platform, and their loyalty program. They also have a great app for phones to use that gives you access to digital tickets.

Digital tickets are nice, as they can be scanned at the gates making them contactless. Click here to view Rays tickets available at Vivid Seats (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

Buying tickets online can be a bit scary when it comes to giving out your information, which is why Vivid Seats has their 100% Buyer Guarantee program. The program is designed to give you security and peace of mind when you are buying tickets online. Here is all that comes with the 100% Buyers Guarantee program:

  • Hassle Free Customer Service
  • Private and Secure transaction (no selling or sharing your information to brokers)
  • Tickets Delivered before the Event Guaranteed or Money Back
  • Valid and Authentic Tickets or money back
  • Accurate Order Guarantee (your tickets will be identical, comparable, or better than your order or money back)
  • Money Back Guarantee for Cancelled Events

Not only do they make sure you are satisfied and your transactions are secure, but they also have a very user-friendly platform. When you go to purchase tickets, they show you exactly where the seats are on the stadium map. They also give you an actual picture view from those seats.

Vivid Seats Loyalty Program

As mentioned, Vivid Seats has a great loyalty program. Depending on how much you spend, you can earn up to 9% cash back on any purchase you make with them. Not only do you get an incredible 9% cash back if you reach “HOF” status, you will also get access to special VIP events and other additional perks. You can see more details here.

The difference between buying from Vivid Seats versus buying directly from the team is Vivid Seats is a secondary ticket marketplace, meaning fan-to-fan.

There are, of course, other fan-to-fan ticket sites out there besides Vivid Seats that will also work just fine (like Ticketmaster). But I like to use Vivid Seats to take advantage of their 100% Buyer Guarantee and loyalty program. Click here to browse through Rays tickets on Vivid Seats to see what seats are available, and what prices (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

General Tropicana Field Information

Tropicana Field is home to the Tampa Bay Rays and was originally built in 1990. Though the Rays didn’t start playing in it until 1998. It is the last MLB stadium that was built as a pure dome. They decided to build it as a dome because of all the rainfall they get in the area. It seats about 45,000 fans.

Where to Buy Rays Tickets Online?

As mentioned above, I believe the best place to buy Rays tickets online is Vivid Seats.
