If you are hoping to watch a Red Sox game in person at Fenway Park and don’t yet have your tickets, you might be wondering about options. Can you buy tickets at Fenway Park on gameday?

Update: Yes, you can buy Red Sox tickets at the stadium, but only as long as supplies last. That said, for reasons we discuss below (like sellouts, lines, etc), many fans choose to buy their tickets online before they go to the game. I like to use Vivid Seats because they show me what my view from the seats will look like prior to purchase, which is an advantage you don’t get when buying at the stadium. Click here to view Red Sox tickets available at VividSeats.com (affiliate link takes you to vividseats.com).

If there are tickets to available to purchase on game day, you will need to go to the ticket office near Gate E on Lansdowne St that opens 90 minutes prior to first pitch (but fans can assemble in line before that).

Buying MLB tickets online can help simplify the process and remove some of the risks and annoyances that come from buying tickets at the stadium. In this article we discuss how to buy tickets at Fenway Park, and what your other options might be.

Buying Red Sox Tickets at Fenway Park

Can You Buy Red Sox Tickets at Fenway Park?

Yes, as we discussed earlier, you can buy Red Sox tickets at the stadium, but only if there are tickets available. If there are tickets to available to purchase on game day, you will need to go to the ticket office near Gate E on Lansdowne St that opens 90 minutes prior to first pitch (source).

It is important to understand, if you are hoping to walkup and buy tickets at Fenway Park for a game that same day, you might not have any luck. Many times there are not tickets available at the stadium on game day.

The Red Sox home games sellout frequently.  Therefore, if you wait to buy tickets at the game, you may miss out. Buying your tickets in advance, if possible, is always best.

If you are hoping to buy tickets for games in the future, you do have the option to search on Vivid Seats or some other online ticket broker. If you want to try to buy through the Red Sox Ticket Office, my advice is to reach out to them via phone or internet.

If you are buying same-day tickets, you will need to go to the ticket office near Gate E on Lansdowne St (view). For all other ticket office needs, the main Red Sox Ticket Office is located at 4 Jersey Street.

Issues with Buying Red Sox Tickets at the Fenway Park

If you are choosing to buy Red Sox tickets at Fenway Park, there are a few risks and annoyances you will want to consider.

  • Sellout – This is the big one. As we mentioned above, many Red Sox home games do sellout. Walking up and buying tickets at Fenway Park might not always be an option. But even though the games sell out, that doesn’t mean you can’t get tickets. It does mean you may need to use a ticket broker, like Vivid Seats, that sells aftermarket tickets (fan-to-fan).
  • Options – You also may find that even if there are tickets left for purchase that you don’t like any of the available seats or prices, especially if you are going to the game with a group of people. Buying online allows you to browse before you go, and find something that works for you.

Best Online Site for Red Sox Tickets

There are many places to buy Red Sox tickets from online, but I think the best place to buy Red Sox tickets is Vivid Seats because of the 100% Buyer Guarantee, their digital platform, and their loyalty program. They also have a great app for phones to use that gives you access to digital tickets. Digital tickets are nice, as they can be scanned at the gates making them contactless.

Click here to view Red Sox tickets available at Vivid Seats (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com). Buying tickets online can be a bit scary when it comes to giving out your information, which is why Vivid Seats has their 100% Buyer Guarantee program.

The program is designed to give you security and peace of mind when you are buying tickets online. Here is all that comes with the 100% Buyers Guarantee program:

  • Hassle Free Customer Service
  • Private and Secure transaction (no selling or sharing your information to brokers)
  • Tickets Delivered before the Event Guaranteed or Money Back
  • Valid and Authentic Tickets or money back
  • Accurate Order Guarantee (your tickets will be identical, comparable, or better than your order or money back)
  • Money Back Guarantee for Cancelled Events

Not only do they make sure you are satisfied and your transactions are secure, but they also have a very user-friendly platform. When you go to purchase tickets, they show you exactly where the seats are on the stadium map. They also give you an actual picture view from those seats.

Vivid Seats Loyalty Program

As mentioned, Vivid Seats has a great loyalty program. Depending on how much you spend, you can earn up to 9% cash back on any purchase you make with them. Not only do you get an incredible 9% cash back if you reach “HOF” status, you will also get access to special VIP events and other additional perks. You can see more details here.

The difference between buying from Vivid Seats versus buying directly from the team is Vivid Seats is a secondary ticket marketplace, meaning fan-to-fan. As mentioned, usually online ticket brokers like Vivid Seats will have a lot more tickets available and options to choose from.

There are, of course, other fan-to-fan ticket sites out there besides Vivid Seats that will also work just fine (like Ticketmaster). But I like to use Vivid Seats to take advantage of their 100% Buyer Guarantee and loyalty program. Click here to browse through Red Sox tickets on Vivid Seats to see what seats are available, and what prices (affiliate link takes you to VividSeats.com).

General Fenway Park Information

Fenway Park is one of the most famous stadiums in Major League Baseball. Visiting Fenway Park is a bucket list item for many baseball fans. It has been open since 1912, and has a lot of history even outside of baseball. The “Green Monster” in left field is an iconic feature, and makes Fenway Park unique in comparison to other stadiums.

You may also want to get to the game early to check out batting practice. This can be a fun way to see the players hit home runs and maybe get autographs. To read more, visit our article about batting practice at Fenway Park.
